COMMENTARY

Here we have another very early bootleg derived from an incomplete and poor quality copy of the same mix that originated "OPD". The overall sound quality here is inferior to "OPD", with all of the intros and count-ins edited out. This copy is also marred by gaps in the middle of most tracks and suffers from the source tape running too slow.

THE ORIGINAL RELEASE

February, 1970 (photo below the title). The original release came in a shiny untitled silver sleeve and small or regular size blank label.

INTEREST. A rare and interesting record. ****

THE WORLDS GREATEST RELEASE

WORLDS GREATEST
2.jpg

This album was soon counterfeited by The Worlds' Greatest Records with a dull silver-gray cover with no title. This had printed labels which featured the title THE SILVER ALBUM OF THE WORLDS GREATEST and the track listings (often with wrong titles). The master of this version was again numbered JARRIS 0020 A / JARRIS 0020 B, as was typical of these producers. Tracks 1 and 5 were replaced by the versions released on KUM BACK. Some of the songs had disturbs due to the unprofessional editing.

Another pressing  featured a white cover with the word SILVER stamped on the front. This had the same labels as the previous release.

INTEREST. Relatively rare records, interesting for completists (***); the rubber-stamped version is very rare and interesting for collectors. (****).

THE WCF RELEASES

Let It Be Live

The WCF group made new stampers for this album, numbered LB-11 A / LB-11 B (numbers on side B invisible since the grooves run into the label area). This record had the following releases:

1. Late 1970. A greenish insert titled LET IT BE - LIVE, with silver labels and the title "SILVER GREATEST" and track listing.

4.jpg

2. 1972-1973. Same as #1, insert in reddish color, blank label.

3. 1974. This pressing came in a folder-type cover with a printed reproduction of the insert of the WCF issue #1. It had blank labels. This is the so called "Amazon Etcetra" release.

INTEREST. Scarcely interesting release. **/*

THE JAPANESE JL RELEASE

1975. The WCF release #1 was counterfeited in Japan probably by JL Records (no manufacturer was actually indicated), with the number 1006 added to the printed cover. This came with light greyish labels replicating the WCF label and the printed matrix 1006 A / 1006 B.

INTEREST. These productions were probably useful at the time for Japanese collectors who had difficulties in finding the original USA releases, but their interest is now limited. **

RECORDS MAINLY DERIVED FROM THE SILVER ALBUM

Tracks 6 to 10 and 5 of the original issue were copied on Side B of HOT AS SUN.
